Art Specs
We'll accept a design however you have it. Though some forms are optimal, we can revive your art from any reasonable source. Some sources may require divine intervention which is reasonably priced at $30.00/hr. The more "ready-to-go" it is when you bring it in the better for your bottom line. Original drawings, verbal descriptions, napkin sketches, and digital vector files require different attention but we can handle them all.
If submitting a design digitally, please follow these guidelines:
Vector Formats (preferred)
The optimal format for your design is an Adobe Illustrator® vector file (AI or EPS), we are running Illustrator Version 13 (CS3) can also accept all legacy formats. Make sure all your type is converted to paths or outlines and/or you also send us the font file(s) which are part of your design. Also embed or include any support files that are placed in your design (TIFFs, textures, JPEGs). Make sure no layers are invisible.
We can also accept native Freehand® files (version 10) saved as FH10 or as a Generic EPS. As with Illustrator, make sure type is converted to paths and support files are included.
If you are using Corel or another vector graphics program, please save as a vectored PDF or Generic EPS and follow the general guidelines for Illustrator and Freehand.
Please design with Pantone® Uncoated Spot Colors this assures that you get the color you want.
It's also a good idea to send a flat uneditable proof file: A PDF or a JPEG with all essential details. Sometimes art files shift between platforms and formats. Outlines can pop up from nowhere between Freehand and Illustrator. This way we have a reference back to what you intended.
Rasterized Formats
Adobe Photoshop® files are perfect for one color prints or CMYK process prints but may accrue art fees if you need them separated to spot colors for a multi-color print. You can help by placing each different color on its own layer.
Design at the same size you'd like your design printed on the shirt and at 300dpi or higher. If your design includes type, please send us the original font files used in your design and rasterize the type layers.
Please save as a PSD or Photoshop PDF.
JPEGs, TIFFs, GIFs and other standard image formats are usable but almost always must be brought back to life through some computer work, usually about half an hour or $15. Help by making sure the image is at the highest resolution it can be.
*If your file is larger than 5 or 6 MB it may not travel well via email. In this case, please bring the design in on a jump drive or a CD.
